A College Girl’s Guide to: A Fabulous Summer in Ann Arbor, Part II

The boat launch at Argo
Tip#2: CANOE, CANOE, CANOE!
Late last July I discovered the wonders that are the $20 canoe and kayak rentals at either Gallup or Argo Parks, both of which are owned and operated by the City of Ann Arbor.Â
It’s been heavily researched and proven that absolutely nothing is more fun than grabbing a cooler, some sunscreen and a handful of buddies and spending a couple of hours (or all day) floating along the Huron River.
Gallup Park (on Fuller Road) charges a flat fee for 2 hours, as well as an additional $1 per hour, while Argo Park (off of Long Shore Drive) allows for an all-inclusive trip downstream, including a van that drives your crew back up river and to your car. Having done canoe rentals (and had a fabulous time) at both parks, my mantra is Argo or no-go; you just can’t beat floating downstream alongside the beautiful Arb while a handy van service awaits to escort you back upriver.
You can make reservations or learn more about their services by calling Gallup Canoe Livery at  (734) 794-6240 or Argo Canoe Livery at (734) 794-6241.
