Another Celebrity Food Trend: Froyo

Welcome Back to Campus with weighable toppings!

Lately it’s been cupcakes. But according to Slate, that food trend is over.  Walk around any Metropolitan city for ten minutes and you’ll see the sugar-rush has vanished in place of a new ‘healthier’ obsession.  The delicious and tart frozen yogurt (“froyo”)  fad.

Although several frozen yogurt franchies have sprung up, Pinkberry is by far the trendiest and is frequented by such celebrities as Kirsten Dunst.  

If you’re looking to taste this trend,(which may have already peaked since it’s just now reaching Ann Arbor) check out Yogurt Rush, located at any Amers on campus (not in the Union).  It’s healthier than regular ice cream and it’s more fun! Froyo cafes are famous for their self-serve mentality. Pick the type of frozen yogurt you’d like (I’d recommend the “original tart”), put on a variety of toppings on it (anything from cereal to candy to fresh fruit), put it on the scale, pray that it’s not a totally embarrassing amount (they charge you by the ounce), and enjoy it! 

My favorite: original tart with two scoops of coconut and one scoop of chocolate chips.
