Art Fair ’09 – now what?
My weekend project: temporary handbag
We’ve almost survived the 50th Ann Arbor Art Fair. The crowds, the wacky weather, and the feelings of inferiority which naturally come after hours of wandering through booths filled with the work of incredibly talented people. In an effort to regain some self-esteem, I’m going to spend the weekend DIY’ing…
I’ve been meaning to try this knotted scarf bag for a while. The main appeal is that the bag isn’t permanent – I have a couple of huge silk scarves lying around that I don’t want to destroy.
Or perhaps I’ll be more ambitious and finally do something with the ugly shelf & table combo I’ve got in my room – one is light wood, one is faux-mahogany and both of them are hideous. I hadn’t thought of putting them together before though. This project is from BeJane.com – supposidly the DIY site for women (eh).
Seems complicated though, perhaps a message board for my door would be an easier project. Hooray for fast feelings of accomplishment.
In middle school I was briefly taken with the idea of making handmade soap. Unfortunately, I had the idea to use raw tea and managed to choose one that was really prickly – NOT FUN! But I’d like to try again, maybe with one of these all-vegetable soaps…the mint and avocado sounds pleasant.
Ugh – checking out DIY websites isn’t really helping…people are doing gorgeous things all over the place and the last thing I DIY’d was…was…um…yeah…
