Deck the Halls with Boughs of LED Christmas Lights
If your family is anything like mine, Christmas decorating is no relaxing event. The tree is falling over, the ornaments are breaking, the hot cocoa on the stove is burning, and, when all of that is said and done—it is finally time to decorate the outside of the house with those tangled Christmas tree lights from years past.

Rockefeller Center will be using LED Christmas lights this year. Will you?
I’m not the “greenest†person on the planet. I can’t say I’m the world’s biggest recycler or the most eco-friendly student on this campus. But, one thing that my family and I will be doing this Christmas season is using LED Christmas lights. Why? Because they use 90% less energy than normal Christmas lights. And, they can last up to more than 50,000 hours, almost 40,000 hours more than normal, incandescent lights. And, trust me, I’m not the only one who decided to look into them this year. The White House in D.C. and Rockefeller Center’s famous Christmas tree in NYC have both already decorated using energy-efficient and environmentally-friendly LED lights.
Environmentallights.com, a company based out of San Diego, offers tons of different Christmas LED lights, ranging from fun, chasing lights to white and multi-color LED Christmas lights, and even LED, pre-lit greenery and wreaths. They even offer, my personal favorite (and one of the tackier holiday items)—icicle bulbs.
I always say—you can tell a lot about a person by the way they handle these three things: a rainy day, lost luggage, and burnt out Christmas lights. The best part about LED lights (and my dad would agree) is that if one bulb burns out, the rest will stay lit, which is not only very useful, but also decreases the dysfunctionality in my house over the holidays.
Downfall? They are more expensive than normal Christmas lights. But, you’ll be helping the environment, which is priceless. And, if you fall in love with the Christmas LED lights, you can even check out some of the other LED products, such as an energy efficient desk lamp.
One house will be using them this year and that’s mine. Now, if only my dad doesn’t fall off the ladder again this year… ‘Tis the season!
