Everyday Objects with Yuken Teruya
Here’s something I found while procrastinatingpacking to go home. Yuken Teruya uses those everyday items we usually throw away or recycle, like paper towel rolls, pizza boxes, and paper bags, to make stunning art.

Corner Forest
Teruya purposely avoids political statements with her pieces though she does acknowledge that works can become so based on the perception of the audience.  ”I feel that my work shouldn’t only have the function of conveying the artist’s message. My works have a right to simply be beautiful or offer any kind of attraction.”
Trees are a consistent theme, from these cut from fast-food bags called Notice-Forest to the marvelous display called Corner Forest which is displayed as a hanging forest of paper towel rolls.
Other works are inspired by the artist’s Japanese background – she designed her own version of Asian Money -Â or current events such as For the World to Come - a series of sketches inside pizza boxes.
You can find more about the artist and her projects at her website.
Cool huh?
