H&M + UNICEF = All For Children Project

When H&M and UNICEF team up...
Â
UNICEF and H&M have recently announced on their websites that they have teamed up to help protect children in India lacking protection rights in the cotton producing areas. H&M, who was generous enough to donate $4.5 million, hopes to improve the lives of children in disadvantaged communities in India. Their new, five year program is called “All for Children.”

This is the bag.
In Tamil Nadu, children have experienced severe child labour, in addition to a lacking education system and little health and nutrition care. When I asked the press contact for H&M about this new collaboration he said, “The project is H&M’s most ambitious to date and focuses on protecting the rights of children in cotton producing areas. We are hoping to get children out of work and into school and to improve access to health and nutrition care. We want to promote a healthier future for our children.”
As part of this program, Sonia Rykiel, a French fashion designer, has created an organic cotton bag exclusively at H&M. The bag will be available in 1500 H&M stores on December 5th, just in time for the holiday season, and 30% of the price of the bag will be given to UNICEF.
