How to convince your boss to let you work from France

Time Management - if it looks good, it must be true...right?
I wish I’d thought of this. Karl Hebert, a graphic designer from Austin, Texas convinced his boss to let him work remotely from Angers, France for a year. How? No – not the usual brown-nosing or an excessive Puritan work ethic. He just made a really convincing brochure. Okay, so maybe it was a little more than just a brochure. Actually, it was a full-out presentation in booklet form, complete with statistics, timetables, and efficiency arguments. And of course, it looked amazing because Hebert’s got a good eye. This may be only a lay-person’s opinion but I thought his portfolio – from graphic design to photography to sketches – was rather heavy on the ‘wow’-factor.
I especially liked his series of Polaroid photos. It reminded me of a spread SHEI did a couple of issues back which included a memorial to the death of the Polaroid.

His business is the “Gold Lunchbox”. Check out his stuff at his website and don’t forget to take a peak at his ultra-cool business cards. I like these because it shows graphic designers can do really cool things using digital technologies but it doesn’t mean their creativity is confined to the computer screen. And where else have you seenn round (pog-like, if you will) business cards in gold that still look 100% classy?
Take it easy,
