Its been almost three years since we have heard (musically)  from John Mayer. His last album, “Contiuum” was put out in 2006. The good news is that his new album “Battle Studies” is set to be released on the seventeenth of this month.

“Battle Studies“ , Mayer’s fittingly titled fourth official album will showcase the events that have thrust Mayer into the headlines in the last couple of years.  In his blog, he states that he will use new musical progressions with his guitar to bring a fresh perspective for the listener.

The music video from the title single “Who Says“, sets Mayer in New York challenging all the norms of life. The seemingly ever distant Mayer in this album reflects on life in general, a stark contrast to his politically charged “Continuum”.

 

Although I am admittedly a huge fan of Mayer and his introspective style, Mayer’s fresh point of view  on this album really has me pumped. So if you have an hour or two to kill on a dreary Sunday evening, check out the “Battle Studies” it may be just the right medicine.
