Look it up: The Photographic Dictionary

You’ll want to spend some time at The Photographic Dictionary - an online dictionary where each entry is paired with an image that defines the word “through the literal, figurative, and personal meanings found in each photograph.”  New entries are constantly being added and you can submit one yourself if you’re interested.

The photographs are a mix of posed shots and candid ones with some clearly the work of professionals while others are not.  Some are eerie, like magic, while others are more whimsical, like watermelon.  Each entry has only one photograph so words with multiple meanings only get one image but kudos to the photographers that try to meld meanings together  – check out crane.

Enjoy!
