Music Video for “Forever” Comes out

11 October 2009 One Comment

Yesterday, the highly anticipated music video for the track \”Forever\” featuring hip-hop giants Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Eminem dropped. Featured in the movie “More than a Game” about Lebron James, the video has combined four of hip-hops most influential artists in recent years, Drake, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Eminem, in one smash hit song.

Of hot debate is who’s verse is the best on the track. In my opinion Eminem was by far the illest, his rhythmic complexities and lyrical content far exceeded that of anyone in it. Drake came in second with his usual down to earth and hard hitting lyrics. In third place Mr. West with a couple clever bars. But honestly Kanye hearing about something else besides yourself would be refreshing once in a while. Finally Lil Wayne, this guy seemed so drugged up all the time that I wondered if even remembers making the music video. Though in this song I’ll give it to him,  he couldn’t compete with the others a couple of his lines made me chuckle. Maybe being surrounded by so much talent scared him into actually having content in his lyrics.

Many are stating that the track will be the “Swagga Like Us” of 2009. As the James’s new movie was recently released on the 2nd of October, only time will tell to the degree that this tracks blows up not only in the hip-hop world but also in the general public. If you ask me, give it 2 more months and it’ll be comparable to “Numb/Encore” that Jay-Z and Linkin Park put out in 2004. In short, this is going to be the pump track to high school sports teams across the nation.

In my honest opinion, I really don’t think Drake’s on the same level as Eminem, Kanye, and Weezy. Those three are all Hip-Hop legends, and I wouldn’t be surprised if Drake fizzled in a few months. In my opinion it’s the other three that make this song good and Drake’s just riding their coattails.
