Narrow Cold-Front: The Vest

I’ve got to say – I’m really liking this new vest-trend that has gained popularity. It’s a versatile look for sure and I love the way it can transition from cold weather to war, formal/business to casual, all while keeping my torso warm and arms free for motion.
You can go pretty much anywhere to find the standard collection of fitted vests for women, from Victoria’s Secret whose designs are mostly business, to Urban Outfitters where the styles are more casual. And while Nordstrom’s has the typical variety of vests, you can find a different take at American Apparel .
The vest-look is a throw-back from the 1980′s but more flattering and fitted. For ideas on how NOT to wear a vest, you should watch any Molly Ringwald/Brat Pack film, pre-1989.
And to get a bit more perspective on the vest in general, check out the comedy stylings of Demetri Martin on Comedy Central.
Until next time,

Vests have been struggling to gain a strong following the past couple of years, and even though it took me a while to warm up to the trend, I am very glad to see it catching on! Worn properly, a vest can almost act as an accessory. They’re trendy, hip and all-together fabulous. Love it!
