Nendo: Blown Fabric

Using a “specialized long-fiber non-woven polyester”, one Japanese design company, Nendo, created a new type of synethetic fiber that can be manipulated in a way similar to what glass-blowers do when shaping their pieces.

According to the designers, this fabric created during an attempt to make paper-lanterns and “while admiring the outcome of the experiment, I wish for a less retro application, … but maybe that’s what we generally call ‘progress’.”  Read more about it HERE.
