NEW Amsterdam – Green & Clean!

Those of you that invested in a 2008/2009 copy of SHEI have already been introduced to the environmentally friendly clubbing products of Sustainable Dance Club, a group from the Netherlands. Their most notable feature is a dance floor that harnesses the energy of dancers to power the rest of the club. Well friends, the Dutch are at it again!
Sustainability in the Netherlands may not be new per-se, but initiatives of SDC are certainly indicative of a greater enviromental conscious of the natives. According to Spiegel Online, Amsterdam has begun to
focus on green energy in a big way. They city is committing over a billion euros towards creating a greener, more sustainble city with a lower carbon footprint.
Those living in Amsterdam can now purchase energy-saving lightbulbs at subsidized prices, travel on public transportation that utilizes solar power, and reduce the
ir energy usage through a smart electric grid. Some of this initiative won’t be completed until later in the summer, but in general, the plan focuses on making more energy efficient households and capitalizing on advancements in green technology.
That gives you one more reason to visit the 6th largest city in Europe!
