Potatoes are not just for eating!

Cheap Art
Did you know they can also be used to make kitschy artwork? And I’m not talking macaroni art, either – though it’s just as easy. All you need is a small knife, a couple potatoes and some paint and you’ll have a set of potato stamps that can be used over and over again.
- Cut a potato in half, cleanly.
- Trace your design (try a star or a pine tree!) onto the potato half with a pen
- Use a knife to cut around the design, making sure that you go a quarter-inch deep. If you do this correctly, your design will look something like this:
Now that you have your potato stamp, dip it in paint and decorate to your heart’s content. Stuck for ideas? Try making gift-wrap, greeting cards, t-shirts, or shopping bags by stamping paper or fabric with your own potato designs.
