Round-Up: Articles you might enjoy

20 November 2009 No Comment

There seems to be a variety of articles targeted toward college-students in the online news blogs I read. Or is it just me? Either way, you might enjoy learning that Yes Means Yes, Overparenting is still obnoxious, and

Jezebel.com has a lengthy piece about changes in the way colleges are framing their rape-prevention programs.  One of the methods has been a “Yes Means Yes” campaign, instead of the more common “No Means No” which is used at the University of Michigan.  It’s nice to know people are thinking about this issue and that rape (the violent act of degredation and possession) is more than just a word bandied about by conservative media pundits.

Parents Weekend has passed, so we can all breath a collective sigh of relief.  Okay, so it wasn’ t that bad.  But I am always shocked at the number of “Helicopter” parents I see or hear horror stories about.  They’re always there, ready to save their 21 year old “baby” from danger!  Time Magazine had a little something to say about that.

Finally, NYMag.com explained the situation with the college students in Pennsylvania who refused to pay the mandatory gratuity on their bill after they received lousy service at an area restaurant.  Not sure if I can salute them yet but it’s worth a mention.

Hooray!  Media Awareness!
