This Isn’t your Grandpa’s Daily Crossword Puzzle

Galliano

Apparently the fashion world is also looking for a way to re-imagine print media.  You’ve seen it on Project Runway, Disney Channel’s “Out of the Box,” and now on John Galliano’s SS 2010 runway: newspaper fashion. (Okay, Galliano only uses it to make some accessories, but still). Newspaper is the new black, and red, white, ochre, and… you get the idea. Using newspaper as fabric is this season’s hottest trend. Aren’t you glad I didn’t let you miss out on it?

The only problem is, I can see how this might be eco-friendly, say, if you use the newspapers you’ve already read, but Project Runway’s butchering of reams and reams of brand new issues of The Los Angeles Times in Season 6 Episode 5 doesn’t really scream “green.” Actually, I think it’s the trees that are screaming. (That was a joke, but don’t tell that to these guys. Which.. wow. Make sure you get to the kid at the end).

But to be serious, I’m not a tree hugger. I actually think this newspaper fashion is quite Hobo Chic (Derelicte, anyone?)!

…Just be careful if you plan on wearing it on a rainy day.
