You’ve probably heard by now that Late Night Comedy Television has something like…um, barely any female writers.  So what do we think about this?

You can read more about it in the New York Times which points out that while “female producers and writers have had huge success in prime time and daytime…very few women make it inside the writing rooms for late-night television hosts, despite that women make up a larger proportion of their audience than men.”

Jezebel.com breaks it down to the numbers if the NYTimes is too much for you.  Note that Chelsea Handler of Chelsea Lately keeps her writer demographics for gender split 50/50.

Does this bother anyone?  The Daily Show still makes me laugh…should I care what goes on in the writer’s room?  Or should these numbers be taken as indicators of something else?
