X-Mas shopping in Ann Arbor: Part I (sisters)

Shopping for Sisters @ Pitaya

The best laid plans…I was going to get my holiday shopping done before Thanksgiving this year.  I’ll wait for your laughter to die down and then confess - just started today.  But I think I started at the right place – Pitaya, located on State Street in Ann Arbor, right off campus.

I’m ashamed to say it was my first time in Pitaya.  Even though SHEI announced  Pitaya was coming to Ann Arbor back in October and we had a correspondent at the Grand Opening, I personally hadn’t been.  And actually – it’s a really nice store!  Plus, it’s open late – ’till 9pm on weeknights.

It was tough to stay focused as I browsed the shelves/racks for my sisters.  There were a lot of really trendy dresses for under $30 – a decent price I thought - and other items I wouldn’t mind owning.  Also, the sales girls were pretty helpful if not a little over eager.  But I appreciate it – it’s a small boutique feel, circa 1950…not Forever 21 (enough said).

I easily found a cardigan for my oldest sister made out of a really soft fabric.  It’s pretty basic but she’s interested in building up her casual cardigan collection.  There were a lot with patterns as well – I’m still wondering if I made the right choice to go with a solid over a print.

I was also looking for a handbag for my youngest sister.  But Pitaya doesn’t have the greatest selection here.  Not that I won’t end up returning to finally get the cute little red one for her, but I like being able to see all my options at once.  Wandering around the store, craning to see what they had available didn’t seem efficient.

So there’s my first attempt at my all-Ann Arbor Holiday shopping.  Stay tuned for more!
