A-Line: The Weekly Column

22 January 2010 3 Comments

During my time at SHEI, I realized that I had created a trend for myself. I found that I was constantly being pulled in the fashion direction when it came to articles, focusing particularly on young adults, interested in entering the world of fashion.

After spending time in New York, I realized the enormous amount of talent throughout the world and the passion that steers so many individuals into a career in fashion.I’ve interviewed Dorothy Elizabeth after her urban-inspired fashion show. I’ve spent time with Yana Evans, a handbag designer in New York City, Matt Noren, a 23-year old, eco-conscious fashion designer, and Caroline Rooney, the founder of The Bearon. I’ve even been fortunate enough to discuss the fashion industry with a longtime friend, Terence Edgerson, founder of Terregalia, a website that aims to present a mix of journalism and style media, while focusing entirely on fashion. All of these people are incredibly different, yet, they all share the same love for design.

It is because of SHEI that I really fell in love with the idea of a weekly column, highlighting talented individuals in the Ann Arbor community and around the country. I hope to speak with store owners, fashion designers, style experts, and other interesting people who will add flavor and diversity to my new weekly column, A-Line. The name was created because I, personally, love A-line clothing (a look that became popular because of Jackie O). The look is simple and popular, elegant and casual, and has been “in style” for the past fifty years. Also, my name begins with an A. Perfect.

I’m hoping that SHEI readers and peers will help me find the most talented individuals inside and outside of the Ann Arbor community. You will get one A-Line post a week from yours truly. I’m really looking forward to the new column and I hope that you all enjoy it. If you have any ideas, please send them my way: alexandra[dot]clare[dot]foster[at]gmail[dot]com.
