Are you a Jackie or a Marilyn?

Have you ever wondered if you were a Jackie or a Marilyn?  Ever wondered if you were a style icon synonymous with culture, elegance, and class or glamor, celebrity-hood, and sex appeal? Whether or not you were destined to become revered for your successful career and high profile marriages or for your scandalous affairs and death?

With Vanity Fair‘s “Are You a Jackie or a Marilyn?” quiz, you can easily discern this important information!

But seriously…

This quiz is just plain irritating.  Why does it matter if I’m a Jackie or a Marilyn? A Betty or a Veronica?  Would I actually change my perception of myself if the test gave unexpected results?  Both Jackie Kennedy Onassis and Marilyn Monroe were complex individuals who lived very public lives – but still kept many private secrets.  Could a simple quiz actually boil down their entire beings?

And don’t get me started on this nasty trend to choose between “brainy” and “bombshell”.  Come on people – we’re in the age of the sexy librarian!  The book which promotes this quiz (which I’m not linking to because I think it’s a horrible concept) is retro-dating guide which seeks to empower-down women of the 21st century to feel comfortable making dinner AND dieting! Whoo hoo!

Completely pointless and irrelevant.

Besides – I’m sure I would be a Jackie.
