Give them all cameras

When I read on The New York Times website that

During the first week of August, City Room, The Times’s Metro blog, asked readers to blanket New York’s coastlines and showcase, through photographs, the myriad ways New Yorkers use their waterfronts, from the coarse brown sands of Staten Island to the diving cliffs of Spuyten Duyvil and the soupy waters of Little Neck Bay.

I thought, “oh, how delightfully budget-wedding of The New York Times.”  Then I started looking at the collection of photographs that blanket the site (“a photographic quilt” in their words). I was wow’ed.
