In the 21st Century, Wonder Woman would wear…leggings?

Image lifted from Wired.com. It's okay, they took it from DC Comics.

In honor of her 600th issue, Wonder Woman got a make-over.  Apparently, knee-high boots and a leotard with built-in push-up bra aren’t practical for crime busting in the modern age.  But neither are pants.

Check out what others are saying about the change:

The New York Times: Makeover for Wonder Woman at 69

“She’s been locked into pretty much the exact same outfit since her debut in 1941,” Mr. Straczynski [new writer of the series] wrote. “If you’re going to make a statement about bringing Wonder Woman into the 21st century, you need to be bold and you need to make it visual. I wanted to toughen her up, and give her a modern sensibility.”

He added, “What woman only wears only one outfit for 60-plus years?”

Wired: A New Wonder Woman? (there’s a poll)

Jezebel.com: Wonder Woman Gets Rad Redesign (they quote Techland, but the comments are always amusing)

“DC Comics have finally given Wonder Woman the makeover she’s long deserved. Instead of being forced to fight crime in a glorified swimsuit, the superheroine now has a look that is “designed to be taken seriously as a warrior.”
