David Merritt is a lot of things: former point guard for the Michigan basketball team, fashion designer, student, volunteer.  Add to the listcampaign launcher; specifically,  a 4-week effort to get President Barack Obama to wear an IMU t-shirt when he visits campus for Spring Commencement on May 1, 2010.

A brief message from Mr. Merritt:

“We just started this Obama 4 IMU campaign this past Thursday in an attempt to further our message of spreading happiness and giving back to the community. And it just so happens, President Barack Obama is coming to speak here at the University of Michigan to deliver the 2010 Spring Commencement speech on May 1st, 2010. We believe President Obama is the perfect person to help us spread our message. As a result, The Obama 4 IMU campaign will run from April 1st, 2010 through May 1st, 2010, when President Barack Obama comes to speak. This campaign will fully mimic a Presidential campaign and the goal of the campaign is simple: to get President Obama to rock an IMU tee during his visit! We have created a full, social media and viral driven website, which we are pushing people to, to petition their support for IMU’s message, IMU’s mission, and ultimately Obama 4 IMU. Don’t be surprised if you see campaign buttons, flyers, campus rallies, or even a possible mock debate around campus. That’s just Merritt and his team at IMU trying to convince Obama to don an IMU t-shirt when he steps foot in Ann Arbor.
