If you frequent this site, it’s safe to assume you’ve probably heard about the awesomeness that is TOMS Shoes.  You know- those cool dudes who, for every shoe sale they record, donate a pair of shoes to needy children.

Per the TOMS website:

In 2006 an American traveler, Blake Mycoskie, befriended children in Argentina and found they had no shoes to protect their feet. Wanting to help, he created TOMS Shoes, a company that would match every pair of shoes purchased with a pair of new shoes given to a child in need. One for One. Blake returned to Argentina with a group of family, friends and staff later that year with 10,000 pairs of shoes made possible by caring TOMS customers.

Well, TOMS is bringing the altruistic spirit to campus.  Details for tomorrow’s “One Day Without Shoes” event (as posted on Facebook):

This Thursday April 8th 2010, TOMS has devoted a day to raising awareness for these shoeless kids.

U of M’s chapter is taking over the diag this Thursday from 11 to 4 to celebrate, play and raise awareness.

  • Meet us at noon in the diag for a 1-mile barefoot walk. Have an Artist from the Art School Decorate a pair of TOMS shoes for FREE! Or, DIY! We will have art supplies available.
  • Listen to student groups perform.
  • Learn more about our Mission.
