New obsession

As soon as I saw an advertisement for a Pandora charm bracelet, I wanted one immediately.  If you haven’t heard of this fast growing trend/hobby/obsession, keep reading.

But like so many pieces of jewelry and articles of clothing that I think I HAVE to have and then forget about it in a few weeks, I let my strong desire to own a Pandora bracelet simmer down a bit.  I still have the Italian charm bracelet from a few years ago collecting dust in the back corner of my jewelry box, which is similar to a Pandora charm bracelet.

Old obsession

One of the differences between the two is that Italian charm bracelets are enameled and modular, while the charms on a Pandora bracelet are round beads. Pandora beads come in gold, silver, or (my favorite) glass. They both offer hundreds of different charm options. And neither is cheap. The lowest priced Pandora bead is $25, and that’s not including the actual bracelet you have to purchase to string the beads on which is at least another $25. Of course the cuter beads are more expensive, reaching well over $25.

I will admit that I still want a Pandora bracelet. As a college student on limited funds, it would take a while for me to collect enough charms to fill up a bracelet that can hold around 20-25 beads depending on the size of your wrist. On the other hand, that is what makes the bracelet seem even more special. It is something that you can slowly add to, and you can find specific charms that you find meaningful.
