4th of July: Wear This, Not That
The 4th of July is just around the corner. You should look festive on this patriotic holiday, but at the same time make sure you don’t overdo it. When I was younger I remember wearing a white and blue star-spangled tube top with over-sized flag earrings and bright red lipstick—cute for a five year-old, but not someone the same age as you or me. The best way to look red hot and not over-the-top is to choose just two of the three festive colors and add in a neutral color like brown or black to break things up. Trust me, you don’t want to look like a walking 4th of July party, just someone who belongs at one. SHEI put together a guide of what to wear and what not to wear to all of your festive 4th of July events.
Nighttime Party
Wear This: A colorful bandage skirt and white flowy top with black pumps.
Not That: A red sequined mini dress with bright blue stilettos.
Fireworks Festival
Wear This: A cute color-block top, white shorts and wedges.
Not That: A red and white striped shirt, blue shorts and star-embellished flip flops.
Day at the Lake
Wear This: A red swimsuit, straw tote and sheer cover-up.
Not That: A red swimsuit with a flag across the butt, sparkly tote and striped cover-up.
Backyard BBQ
Wear This: White capris, a sheer blue or red top and gold accessories.
Not That: An “I <3 America” tee, star jewelry and flag accessories.
