Marc Jacobs RTW Spring 2012

20 September 2011 No Comment

Straight from the runway of New York Fashion Week 2011 comes Marc Jacob’s newest collection for RTW. Neutral and cream colors dominate the palette of choice, and there couldn’t be anything more dreamy. The stunning collection mixes feathers and some bright, eye-catching shades. As the models strut their stuff down the runway, there is no room for disappointment. Yet again, Jacob’s delivers a collection that ties together elegance, modernity, power, and class.

The show’s trademark piece is the tied headband, worn by many of the models. Perhaps it is paying an homage to the working girls of the 60s and 70s; representing not only the strength of women but also the ability to transform a work-item into a fashion statement.

Jacob’s unique use of plastic is also something to take note of in this most recent collection. Clear boots show off the legs, as does the synthetic material wrapped around model’s legs as a skirt.

This black silk dress, tied masterfully at the front, is a unique twist on the LBD. The gold variation is also stunning.  The tulle on the outer edge of the dress gives it an elegant but edgy feel.

Another dress from the collection is reminiscent of some of the iconic looks of the 1920s. Jacobs pairs this fringe dress with a classic four button blazer. The result is a fun, sleek look with a touch of androgyny.

This checkered ensemble proves black and white checks have been, and still are, here to stay. The symmetrical jacket compliments the figure, lengthens, and looks fantastic with the over-knee stockings. This ensemble hits stores just in time for fall, and cocktail hour!

Here at SHEI we love Marc Jacobs and are excited about this RTW collection. It makes us want to go out, buy some plastic and clear boots and strut our stuff down State Street. Well, maybe we wouldn’t go that far, but we can definitely take some of the concepts seen in this show and apply them to our own styles.
