Announced: Yeezy’s “Pastelle” is Dead

I didn't take this photo, but somebody did. Thanks Internet!
As he sports an ego of colossal proportions, you would think that the world would know that Kanye West has his own fashion line- or, at least, had. So, when the folks over at Complex.com (Mark Ecko’s magazine) announced that Mr. West’s label, Pastelle, went under, I was baffled to have not heard of the brand’s existence in the first place.
As the blogosphere posted, though, that’s probably due in part to the fact that Pastelle had only made a few public appearances rocked by ‘Ye himself. Search Pastelle and you’ll find a limited handful of images: some varsity jackets and crewnecks dominated by the ‘Pastelle’ script (reminiscent of the Jurassic Park logo font), avant garde sunglasses, and high-end basics.
Sad that it’ll never (at least, for now) come to fruition- the line showed promise and originality. Unlike his VMA antics and ever-eroding lyrical faculties suggest, ‘Ye the designer seemed quite mature. The brand seemed reflective of the jump that he made from Graduation to 808’s: displaying a darker, emotional dimension. Maybe if he shut up for a minute or two, we’d see the resurrection of Pastelle- but given that conditional, I wouldn’t count on it.
