Save Money, Save The Planet

Although running to the bookstore may not be on the top of everybody’s “Welcome Week To Do List,” one company may have you thinking about a new way to buy your textbooks. Greentextbooks.org specializes in recycling textbooks, reducing the amount of greenhouse gases caused by manufacturing new textbooks, and saving you some green!
So how does this work? Through a partnership with Amazon.com and others, Greentextbooks.org makes sure that used textbooks don’t end up in a landfill. The company guarantees to donate at least5% of the profits to non-profit groups that are dedicated to making the world a greener planet. In the past, Greentextbooks.org has helped raise money and awareness for the Arbor Day Foundation and the World Wild Life Fund (WWF).
Books that aren’t sold to be reused are “properly recycled into other paper products” – part of their goal to recycle 100% of the books they receive.
And, when those final exams are over and you’re ready to go out with your friends sell your books, donate to Greentextbooks.org. Why? Because Greentextbooks.org works closely with college students and publishing companies “to conserve natural resources and preserve forests!”
As Welcome Week begins and ends and you race around Ann Arbor looking for last minute books and supplies, think about how you could be helping the environment and saving some money! Greentextbooks.org is affordable for students and committed to preserving forests by planting trees and donating money to environmentally conscious, non-profit groups.
Always wanted to go green, but never knew how to start? This could be your opportunity to start spreading the word to your college friends. And, for those of you who aren’t planning on buying or selling textbooks anytime soon, Greentextbooks.org also accepts DVD and CD donations!
