Something to Say About Sustainable Design

While SHEI likes bringing you the latest in trends from lots of categories – fashion, technology, art, culture – one of my favorite topics is sustainability because so many designers are doing such fantastic work using such principles.

“Green” design is the topic of a pretty interesting podcast from Aaron Heth and Matt McInerney, two Savannah College of Art & Design students that also podcast regular interviews about art and design (duh) at Read Between the Leading.  They bring up the conflict between calling something “green” and actually creating an object that embodies sustainable design. They also include a couple of examples from other sites, like this incredibly useful pizza box.

If you’d like to become more familiar with projects like these, you might enjoy Inhabitat.com, a website with a collection of the latest in sustainable design…or rather, “design that will save the world”.

Hooray for leaving the earth a better place than it was found!
