It’s Monday….

…And here’s a post to stimulate the groggy senses.  I read a recent article from the  Times Online about British sculptor Antony Gormley, whose life-sized figures placed on Manhattan rooftops have left some New Yorkers, mistaking the sculptures as individuals contemplating suicide, quite alarmed.  Gormely’s reply:

“I want to play with the city and the people’s perceptions.  My intention is to get the sculptures as close to the edge of the buildings as possible”  (full article here).

Not so sure of the artistic integrity behind this installation, but there’s been more outrageous stunts pulled (think Damien Hirst’s dazzling skull). Still, Gormley, of whom I’d never heard before, has a neat oeuvre.
