Virgin Oceanic’s Necker Nymph

As if Virgin Galactic wasn’t enough, Richard Branson’s ever-expanding corporation has set its sight on a new commercial venture: underwater exploration. Virgin’s Necker Nymph three-person submarine was released a couple days ago as part of Virgin Limited Edition‘s luxury vacation portfolio. According to the Virgin website:

Once launched the submarine dives down to a depth of 30 metres (130ft) so you can explore the deep without having to get around by flipper power. It can travel at up to 6 knots under water with our trained pilot at the helm. Dives typically last from one to two hours and passengers wear normal scuba breathing gear.

Use of the Necker Nymph costs $25,000 per week, and that’s only if you charter the Necker Belle catamaran for seven days at a rate of about $90,000. But who cares about money when you can live out your wildest Jacques Cousteau/James Bond fantasies?
