Dear Readers,

If you’re a daily visitor to our site, you may have noticed a number of changes: a newer, cleaner layout, some minor cosmetic changes, and (most excitingly!) the latest-and-greatest issue of SHEI magazine, free and available to all, on our website!

Issue 19 of SHEI is near and dear to my heart, and I’d like to thank everyone who made it happen, and for the blood, sweat and tears sacrificed to make it work. Our staff and contributors did an extraordinary job dreaming up articles and photoshoots, writing, shooting, modeling and editing, and putting together the final product that is SHEI. Their work paid off: cover-to-cover, this issue is amazing, and I’m extremely proud of it.

It was a rough task, to pick from the best of the best. Nevertheless, I’d like to share with you some of my personal favorites from issue:

On Saturday, February 20, SHEI shot our first menswear and eyewear shoot of the year; to celebrate, here’s some sneak previews of the shoot and a big “thank you” to the wonderful people of SEE Eyewear (Rachel Pryde, Susan Rafferty, and Lauren Griffiths), who exclusively and generously sponsored all the eyeglasses featured in the shoot. That talented crew from Speedstrobe share one of their latest photoshoots: Inspired by the series of photos by Daniel Weiss, we hoped to capture “Strength” in this photo shoot.

Strength is not something that is taught, it is earned through hard work and sweat. In this series of photographs we try to use light and photography as a tool to peek into our own strength.

Fashion Photo Shoot: Graffiti Alley

The latest from SHEI photography: For this shoot we used the graffiti alley of Ann Arbor, located on E.Liberty opposite Borders. The concept was more of a punk theme, and we try to move away from the traditional street wear theme. And the end result is this nice cross over between punk/street/rock. I had a lot of fun on this shoot and I hope that everyone had a good time too. Don’t forget to check out what SHEI had to say during Graffiti Week as well!
