Golden Globes Recap: What Trends Made the Night?
Sunday January 10, 2016-- All of our favorite Film and TV stars stepped out of their sleek black limousines and graced the red carpet in Beverly Hills. But what were they wearing? Three trends were absolutely impossible to ignore as the many spectators watched these poised celebs pose for the camera. Three trends that, if we've learned anything from awards season, will be gracing the streets in no time at all: powerful patterns, bright colors, and glittering sequins.
Big and bold patterns were featured on the red carpet this Sunday. Many actresses donned floral motifs, introducing some spring flavor to any audiences watching this January event bundled up in coats and scarves. In Beverly Hills, the weather welcomes spring looks any time - there's no complaint from our side about these gorgeous garden gowns.
Patterns didn't stand alone as an indication of the sun rays shining down on the Golden Globes. Pops of color could be spotted all of the red carpet as Queen Latifah (Badgley Mischka), J Lo (Giambattista Valli), and Joanne Froggatt (Reem Acra) all looked gorgeous in spring colors.
From intricately-placed sequins to gowns that dripped with shimmer, many actresses quite literally sparkled on the red carpet this year. Detailing on dresses has the benefit of stepping the already-chic up to a new level of glamour, elevating a look without tarnishing the fundamentals. It's safe to say this trend was a personal favorite of many viewers. While all of these ladies look stunning in their jeweled attire, one of the standouts of the night was Taylor Schilling in a glittering Thakoon pantsuit (top center), proving once again that black can be surprising while maintaining its classic charm.
