Thrifted Transformation: Personalizing a Jean Jacket
By Alex Andersen
One of the easiest ways to acquire clothing that fits your personal style is actually quite simple: through customization. After searching endlessly and unsuccessfully for the perfect jean jacket, I decided to thrift one and paint it myself. I found a relatively inexpensive one at Ragstock, a local thrift store in Ann Arbor. I also picked up some fabric paint and brushes at an art supply store. After sketching a few ideas, I chose a simple floral pattern, but possibilities for designs are endless. Once finished, I had a jacket that was both affordable and reflective of my personal style, and it only took a couple hours total to find and transform.
