Black, White, and Nude All Over

While color blocking and bold statement pieces seem to be the latest fashion fads  in all the fashion magazines, bold color was (and is) one of many popular fashion trends.  Just as much as color was on the New York runways this season, blacks, whites, and nudes are making a formidable appearance in the fashion world. The ‘new’ nude this spring season is creamy white, and mixing these shades of ‘non-color’ is a fresh, and often more classic take on color blocking. Alice + Olivia’s Fall 2013 collection featured many purely black and white looks, and BCBG Max Azria showed a similar trend of muted colors and black and white prints. The latest outfits are saying goodbye to the pops of color in favor of pairing black and white, which is contrasted by the just-as-muted nude colors as well.  While outfits are lacking in color, they are not lacking in class, as they appear relatively grown-up and sexy when compared to outfits with a lot of color.  The transformation is from bubbly, color-oriented, fun looks to subdued, sultry, and color-muted ones. Whether in spring or fall, these looks are sure to be the newest hit, and prove that sometimes, understatement can be the strongest statement. If you love color too much to wear a look without it, brightly painted fingernails or a bold accessory can make up for a completely black, white, or nude ensemble, and give it a playful look that can make an outfit appear more youthful.
