Cold Weather Recipes in a Mug

Grace Kim

The weather is getting colder. Coats are getting thicker.  People are exchanging ice lattes for warm, steaming cups of coffee. It's that time of the year where the last thing anyone wants to do is go outside to grab a bite to eat. Also, let's face facts: dorm food isn't exactly gourmet cuisine. But this doesn't mean that you have to deprive yourself of delicious food! All you need are a few ingredients, the all-mighty microwave, and a simple mug to prepare yourself a cozy, delicious treat. In honor of those days where the wind is blowing hard enough to sweep you off your feet and the dorm cafeteria is serving mystery meat, here are five easy recipes that can be made in a mug! 1. Coffee Cup Quiche

Yes, you heard correctly. It's the same delicious meal that you see on the table for a particularly fancy brunch IN A MUG. While not the fanciest way to serve, quiches are delicious and surprisingly easy to make in a simple coffee cup. When you have the recipe down pat, you can start to add your own twist on the recipe. Try adding broccoli or peas for a splash of green. Maybe even bacon bits for that extra dash of deliciousness.

Because who doesn't love warm, cheesy Mexican food on a cold evening? Chilaquiles are a traditional Mexican dish that make use of leftover tortilla and salsa. The fact that it can be made easily in your own mug makes it even better. This recipe is wholesome, full of flavor, and sure to make you feel nice and full. Be careful not to microwave too long or the tortilla chips will get soggy and completely unappetizing.   If you want a spicy kick, add some Tabasco sauce to fire up your tastebuds.
