Industry Updates: Noteworthy Fashion Collaborations

The fashion industry is like New York City: It never sleeps.  Brands are constantly signing new faces to represent their labels, designers are pushing boundaries, and style icons are being born.  Things are always changing - the industry never stops evolving.  But isn't that what makes it so great?  Style changes like people do.  The fashion industry is always pushing the edge of what's to come. But with an ever-changing industry, it can be difficult to keep up with all of the creative and iconic happenings in fashion.  Some of the best moments are when different powerhouses, whether in the fashion industry or not, team up to push the edges of fashion.  Here are some recent collaborations that are worth taking note of.

1. Jeremy Scott x Moschino

It's official: Jeremy Scott, the 39-year-old L.A. designer, has been set to take over Rosella Jardini's position as creative director at Moschino.  Why should we be excited?  Because Scott is the perfect fit.  Moschino is a brand that holds cult appeal, not unlike Scott's quirky, humorous, and boundary-pushing designs.  He will strengthen the modern and eclectic essence of the brand.  Not to mention that the whole thing is incredible inspiring: Scott once interned for the company and now he is heading up the label.

Scott will make his runway debut with the brand at Moschino's Fall 2014 show for Milan Fashion Week in February next year, and we can't wait to see the collection, because it's sure to be fun.

2. Blake Lively x L'Oréal

Blake Lively has signed on to be the new face of L'Oréal Paris.  Really, it was only a matter of time before this powerhouse of the beauty industry picked up on this beauty from the entertainment industry.  And with experience as the face of Gucci's Premiere Fragrance and of Chanel's Mademoiselle bag for BFF Karl Lagerfeld, Lively knows the ropes.  L'Oréal made the right move: Blake Lively is practically a goddess and if her golden hair and flawless features won't convince someone to go  L'Oréal, then what will?

L'Oréal states that they chose Lively because she "embodies all the modern codes of Hollywood glamour. She is flashing a substantial swath of upper elegance and sensuality."(Telegraph.co.uk)

3. M.I.A. x  Versus Versace

Iconic fashion brand Versace has tapped pop-star M.I.A. to design a 19-piece capsule collection for Versus.  The best part?  The designs are modeled off of fake Versace.  That's right, the line is completely counterfeit inspired.  How great is that?

4. Kate Moss and John Galliano x Vogue

John Galliano, former designer for labels such as Givenchy and Christian Dior, and a name that has become a staple in the fashion industry, has made a creative return to Vogue as the guest fashion editor for the December issue. Galliano brought BFF and fellow fashion icon Kate Moss along for the ride.  If one thing's for sure, it's that Christmas has come early to the pages of Vogue.
