Back to Basic: Au Naturale at NYFW

Up the street and down the runway, beauty is a constantly evolving movement.  With Fashion Week Season drawing to a close, one trend stood out from the crop, especially with its everyday appeal. Numerous powerhouses, from Jason Wu to Rag & Bone, opted for what makeup guru, Gucci Westman calls "less complicated and more real."  At the Marc Jacobs Spring 2015 fashion show, models of the moment took the backseat, and makeup, center-stage, took a turn for the natural: none at all. Jacobs' aesthetic statement, exhilarating and on-trend, is one SHEI believes college women should emulate.  The minimalist approach to makeup brings about multiple benefits essential to a healthy lifestyle: improved complexion, boosted self-confidence, and a more simplified, morning routine (hello beauty sleep!).

The barely there, glowing faces at Marc Jacobs were achieved simply through moisturizing lotion, according to François Nars of NARS Cosmetics.  In fact, Marc Jacobs Nail Polish was the only other cosmetic used for the show.  As moisturizer is key in the "no-makeup makeup" trend, we've rounded up our favorite moisturizers for several skin-types.

The unpredictable nature of NYFW reigned truer than ever with Marc Jacobs' unthinkable cosmetic display and minimalist message.  For us college women who are constantly thinking on the move, the unthinkable, mixed with a touch of moisturizer, may just do us some good!
